Living together
Living together
Are you moving in together without a marriage or registered partnership? Your partner does not automatically gain the position of 'co-tenant' as a result of cohabitation. Initially, your partner will become a 'co-tenant'. He or she has no right to the property and will have to leave it with you at the end of the tenancy agreement. After two years, you can jointly apply for co-tenancy for your partner. You can apply for this using this form with proof of:
- You have been living together in the property for at least 2 years. You prove this by sending an extract with address history from the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP) of the Municipality of Helmond. This extract must not be older than 6 months.
- You intend to live together for a long time
- You share the costs of the joint household with your partner
- You can also pay the rent on your own
Please note! If you have not applied for joint tenancy, you are therefore not on the tenancy agreement. You cannot then continue to live in the property when the main tenant moves out or dies.
