Rent adjustment

Every year before May 1, Woonpartners sends out rent adjustment letters. On July 1, 2024, we will adjust the rents of our homes, parking spaces and garages.

This varies by property. The government allows social housing landlords to adjust rents by up to 5.8 per cent in 2024. For the majority of our properties, we apply a rate of 5.3 per cent. The letter or email you receive explains what the rent adjustment means for you.

Yes, the law allows Woonpartners to adjust rents every year on 1 July. This year, the government gives leeway up to a maximum adjustment of 5.8 per cent. For more information, visit the website of the central government.

Once a year, we are allowed to raise rents. This is necessary to maintain and improve the quality of our homes and neighbourhoods. We invest that money in new construction, maintenance, sustainable solutions and liveability. For now but also for the future.

You may receive rent allowance. In that case, the amount of the rent increase will be partly absorbed by an increase in the rent allowance. Woonpartners will report the change in the rent to the Tax Administration. Tip: Check yourself whether the Tax Administration processes the rent increase correctly. Would you like to know more about the rent allowance? Then contact the Tax Office or visit the website of the Tax Office.

Every year the rent adjustment takes place on 1 July, regardless of the effective date of the lease. This is regulated by law.

Do you pay your rent by direct debit? Then the new rent amount will be debited automatically from 1 July. Do you pay by other means? For example, via your own periodic transfer via telebanking? Then make sure the correct rent amount is paid with effect from 1 July 2024.

The rent adjustment is calculated on the basic rent and not on the service costs. The service charge will be settled with you annually, looking at the advance payment made by you and the actual costs incurred.

The rent increase is almost always less than the increase in your wages or benefits. Do you foresee that you will not be able to pay the rent? If so, contact us as soon as possible. Together with you, we will see what the options are to prevent or resolve arrears. You can reach us Monday to Thursday from 8.30am to 5pm and Friday from 8.30am to 12.30pm, on telephone number (0492) 508 800.
